Purdue ROTC to conduct high school drill competition

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University's Army Reserve Officer Training Corps will conduct a high school Junior ROTC drill competition beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 12) at the Purdue Armory.

The competition, which will include high school JROTC members from Indiana and surrounding states, is free and open to the public.

The event will have competitions featuring color guards, squads and individuals. Participants also will take part in an inspection in which trained Army drill sergeants will judge individual JROTC members in the areas of uniform wear, military bearing and general knowledge.

Individual and team drill reviews also are planned for the competition, which offers awards to those participants who excelled in the areas of teamwork, intensity, discipline and precision.

Purdue's ROTC program was founded in 1876 and has been active, with a few exceptions, ever since. For more information about ROTC at Purdue, visit the web.
