Marjorie Magner has distinguished herself in financial services.

She is currently the chairman and CEO of the Global Consumer Group for Citicorp in New York City.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Ms. Magner earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brooklyn College and a master’s degree in industrial administration from Purdue’s Krannert School of Management.

Before joining Citigroup, Ms. Magner worked for four years as an actuarial analyst for Equitable Life Insurance Company and for 12 years in various positions with Chemical Bank.

She joined Commercial Credit, a predecessor company to Citigroup, in 1987, assuming increasing responsibility over the years, while implementing a number of innovative programs in cross selling, technology, marketing, and customer service in a number of Citigroup businesses.

From April 2002 through August 2003, Ms. Magner was chief operating officer of the Global Consumer Group. At the time she was named chairman and CEO, she was responsible for the North American Retail Banking organization, the Global Retail Banking product, Primerica Financial Services, CitiFinancial North America, Women & Co., and CitiCapital. Additionally, she worked jointly with the Citigroup International management team to oversee consumer operations in Western Europe and Japan.

Ms. Magner is a member of Citigroup’s Management Committee as well as its Global Consumer Planning Group. She also has been instrumental in planning and executing many of Citigroup’s acquisitions over the years as well as being involved in the subsequent integration of the acquired companies.

For the last three years, Fortune Magazine has named Ms. Magner one of the 50 most powerful women in American business. She serves on the board of trustees for Brooklyn College and the Dean’s Advisory Council for Krannert. She previously served on the board of directors of the Welfare to Work Partnership, Dress for Success Worldwide, Port Discovery Children’s Museum in Baltimore, and the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education. She was a 2003 participant in the Purdue Old Masters Program.
