Purdue students to study in China

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Two Purdue University students have been selected as exchange students at China's Beijing Foreign Studies University.

Stephanie Alvis, of Fairfield, Ohio, and Eric Oetting, of Fort Wayne, Ind., both seniors in the Department of Organizational Leadership and Supervision, will spend the spring semester taking courses at the university and participating in a human resources internship in Motorola's Beijing operations.

The students are part of the department's ongoing collaborations with Beijing Foreign Studies University, which began two years ago when Purdue professor Kate Laskowitz-Weingart served as a Fulbright scholar there. Since then, several faculty from each school has visited the other, including Yiwne Shen, Beijing Foreign Studies University's associate dean for international business programs, who served as a visiting scholar at Purdue last year.
