Purdue wins Pontiac Game Changing Performance competitionLast Saturday was a memorable day for Purdue, as they scored their first win in 30 years at Notre Dame Stadium by routing the Fighting Irish 41-16. But the Boilermakers got a bonus with their victory, when Jerome Brooks returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, breaking a 3-3 tie early in the game. That play earned the honor for the ultimate "game changing performance" this past week in college football. So say tens of thousands of fans who visited espn.com/pontiac online and voted in the third week of the Pontiac Game Changing Performance" competition. The new Pontiac Game Changing Performance feature recognizes the most dramatic moments that occur in NCAA games across the country every week moments that change the outcome or define a season then gives fans the opportunity to vote on the performance they believe is the biggest "game changer". The competition began Sept. 4 and will continue for 13 weeks, through Nov. 27. As a result of their win, Purdue has earned a $5,000 contribution from Pontiac to their general scholarship fund. Additionally, the winning play may be nominated for the Pontiac Game Changing Performance of the Year competition in December. At years end, six of the 13 Pontiac Game Changing Performances will be selected by ESPN for this final award. And the play selected in fan voting as the best of the year will earn a $100,000 general scholarship fund contribution from Pontiac. By the end of the season, Pontiac, a leading sponsor of NCAA sporting events and collegiate athletics, will have contributed nearly $200,000 to NCAA institutions. To vote in the weekly competition, fans need only visit espn.com/pontiac after the "game changing nominees" have been selected Saturday evening by ESPN. They then have the opportunity to cast their votes from Sunday morning through Thursday morning. Each weeks winning performance will be announced during the "Pontiac High Performance Halftime Report" on ESPN Thursday night games. Fans can also enter a separate contest where they will get a chance to win weekly merchandise autographed by NCAA football "game-changing greats" like Herschel Walker and Tim Brown, ESPN prize-packs and a grand prize of an "Ultimate BCS Road Trip" consisting of six tickets to the BCS Championship game, a new Pontiac G6 and $6,000 in spending money.
