Art exhibit commemorates work of interior design professor

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – An exhibit featuring pen and ink drawings by a former Purdue University visual and performing arts professor will open Monday (Sept. 20).

"Drawings of Spain by Kingsley K. Wu: A Commemorative Exhibition," is a selection of 28 drawings Wu made based on his visits to Spain, including the Pilgrimage Route in Northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela. The prints feature architectural views of buildings, street scenes and larger panoramic vistas. Pieces displayed in the exhibit were selected by the family of Wu, a professor of interior design who retired in 2003 and died in the spring of 2004.

The exhibit will run through Oct. 1 in the Patti and Rusty Rueff galleries in the new Visual and Performing Arts Building, 552 W. Wood St. A reception will take place on Monday from 5-7 p.m. The gallery exhibit is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Wu began teaching at Purdue in 1971. His expertise was in sketching, drawing and visual representation. He also led many study tours to China.
