ITaP Tips: ITaP adds showroom for shopping offlineFrom Inside Purdue Savvy computer shoppers on campus already know that they can save an average of 25 percent by purchasing through ITaP Shopping. But until now, ITaP Shopping was available online only, which meant that would-be purchasers couldn't always try out the equipment before buying. That's changed thanks to ITaP Shopping Offline, a showroom of consumer electronics available for purchase through ITaP Shopping. The showroom is now open in Stewart Center, Room G-65. ITaP Shopping Offline celebrated its opening April 13, when more than 1,000 students stopped by to enjoy refreshments and tour the new facility. Currently on display are computers by Acer, Apple, Dell, HP, IBM and Toshiba. Soon Purdue employees and students also will be able to see computer products from CDWG and GovConnection. After test-driving the computers, shoppers may place orders in the showroom and have the computers delivered to a home address. The new showroom is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and is across the hall from the ITaP Customer Service Center. (The service center is a walk-in facility that supplements the itap@purdue.edu e-mail and the 49-44000 telephone number as ways to contact ITaP Customer Service.) More shopping tips: BoilerCopyMaker now offers two new software packages worth noting. The EndNote suite of software, which includes Reference Manager, ProCite, and EndNote, is now available for $10. The standard ITaP shopping price for the suite is $50. The standard educational price for the three software packages is $310, and the three software packages together have a retail price of $597. Also, the latest release of the Macintosh operating system, version 10.3, which is known to Mac users as "Panther," is now available for purchase at BoilerCopyMaker for $50. The software retails for $129. The software can be purchased at BoilerCopyMaker on the main floor of Purdue Memorial Union. A valid Purdue ID is required for purchase.
