Former vice president to lecture via satellite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Former Vice President Al Gore's class at Middle Tennessee State University will be broadcast live via satellite to Purdue on Monday evening (10/29) as part of a satellite presentation on intergenerational service learning.

"Families and Seniors: Across the Generations" is sponsored by Purdue's Gerontology Program, and will include a live satellite link to Gore's course on family-centered community building from 7-9:30 p.m. in Stewart Center, Room 218C. The course introduces advanced undergraduate and graduate students and community practitioners to a range of topics, issues and frameworks to help build stronger, more cohesive family-centered communities.

Following Gore's presentation, guest speakers Fernando Torres-Gil, associate dean for academic affairs at UCLA's School of Public Policy and Social Research, and Brenda Krause Eheart, executive director of Generations of Hope, a non-profit corporation for improving the lives of children through adoption and the establishment of caring intergenerational communities, will elaborate on the subject matter from 7:30-9:30 p.m. There will be an opportunity for participants to call in with questions during the discussion portion of the presentation.

The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited to approximately 50 people.

The satellite presentation is part of the Generations Together, University of Pittsburgh/Association for Gerontology in Higher Education service-learning project.
