October 26, 2001 Black Voices of Inspiration to perform at PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Black Voices of Inspiration will perform a concert entitled, "Black Voices of Inspiration: A Menu of African-American Music," at 7 p.m. Thursday (11/1) in the North Ballroom of the Purdue Memorial Union. The menu of medleys features an assortment of musical genres promoting African-American culture, including jazz, blues, gospel, rhythm-and-blues, spirituals, hip-hop and anthems. The concert is sponsored by the Purdue Student Union Board and the Black Cultural Center. Heather Owen, program advisor for the Purdue Student Union Board, says the concert offers a "feast for the ears." "Since its establishment in 1975, Black Voices of Inspiration have become one of the most widely respected choirs in Indiana," Owen says. "Attending the Black Voices of Inspiration concert is an excellent opportunity for everyone to become more familiar with the culture of African-American music and ultimately enjoy a professional university ensemble perform riveting music."
