Foxworthy, Engvall to headline comedy show in Elliott

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Blue Collar Comedy Tour, starring comedians Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall, will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in the Elliott Hall of Music.

Tickets are $37.50 plus a $1 box office service fee. Tickets can be purchased at Purdue box offices or charged by phone at (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW. The Blue Collar Comedy Tour is presented by Purdue Convocations.

Foxworthy’s first comedy album, "You Might Be a Redneck If …," sold more than 4 million copies, and his second album, "Games Rednecks Play," is nearing that mark. To date, Foxworthy’s total album sales have surpassed 11 million, making him the largest selling comedy recording artist in history.

A regular on such shows as "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show," Foxworthy has appeared in an HBO special, two Showtime specials and an NBC situation comedy.

Foxworthy also is an author who has written 10 best-selling books, including "You Might Be a Redneck If …," which is now in it’s 30th printing. The autobiographical "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem!" spent more than two months on The New York Times bestseller list and has sold more than 600,000 copies.

"The Foxworthy Countdown," a weekly syndicated radio show, features the comedian playing the current Top 20 country music hits and conducting interviews with the stars. The program is carried locally on WKOA-FM, the media sponsor for Foxworthy's Purdue appearance.

Bill Engvall was awarded gold albums for both his debut, "Here’s Your Sign," as well as his second album, "Dorkfish." "Dorkfish" quickly climbed to No.1 on the Billboard comedy chart when it was released in 1998, surpassing Jerry Seinfeld’s album.

Engvall’s comedy encompasses a wide range of topics including kids, family life and animals.

Also an actor, Engvall appeared in several episodes of "Designing Women" and was a regular on "Delta" and "The Jeff Foxworthy Show."

Opening the show will be comedians Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy. White is a long-time friend of Foxworthy’s and frequently opens his shows. Larry the Cable Guy has built his fan base through appearances at comedy clubs across the country and his syndicated radio commentary program.
