Purdue West merchants celebrate shopping center's new look

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Prizes, food and games are all part of a celebration this Friday (4/27) for the newly renovated Purdue West Shopping Center.

Purdue West, at 1400 W. State St. on the west edge of the Purdue University campus, will host a "Renovation Celebration and Sale" from 5 to 9 p.m. During the past several months, the south side of the shopping complex was given a new face, and a new diamond-shaped, outdoor atrium was constructed between Baskin Robbin's Ice Cream shop and Thriftway Supermarket.

As part of the event, merchants will offer special bargains and customers can enter a contest to win prizes, including free concert tickets, pizzas, ice cream cones and movie passes. Participants also can enjoy the inflatable carnival games from Pic-A-Chic Farms, including Big-Bout Boxing, Gladiator Joust, Dunk Tank, Velcro Olympics and Laser Tag.

Lafayette radio station 95.7 "The Rocket," WSHP-FM, will broadcast live from the event.

Purdue West Shopping Center includes the following merchants: Papa John’s Pizza, McDonald's Restaurant, Michelle's Party By Design, Seattle Beanery, Pizza Hut, Baskin Robbins, GNC Purdue West, Subway Sandwiches and Salads, Follett's Purdue West Book Store, Thriftway Supermarket, Taco Bell Restaurant, Tops & Tans, Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union branch office, Veno's, Bank One, Big 10 Tan, and University Spirit.

A new tenant, Council Travel, recently leased 1,000 square feet on the east side of the shopping plaza next to GNC, and will move to this new location on May 3.

Purdue West Shopping Center is a neighborhood, open-air shopping center managed by the Purdue Research Foundation Division of Real Estate. This division is responsible for acquiring, managing, selling and maintaining property for Purdue University and Purdue Research Foundation.

Merchant discount offers are good only at Purdue West stores.
