Dogs needed for behavior modification course

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking dogs with and without behavior problems for participation in "DOGS! Principles and Techniques of Behavior Modification"

To be considered, owners must fill out a questionnaire and liability waiver form by April 30. The course is directed toward dog trainers, veterinary technicians and veterinarians, said Julie K. Shaw, a resident animal behavior technologist. The course runs from May 16-20.

Shaw and her colleagues are seeking untrained dogs without significant behavior problems for a practicum on May 17 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Course students will work with participating dogs utilizing the newest training techniques they have learned.

Dogs with behavior problems are needed for practicums on May 19, at 2:30 p.m., and May 20 at 8:30 a.m. Course students will apply behavior modification techniques learned in the DOGS! course.
