Trustees approve emerita status, grant
faculty promotions
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue Board of Trustees today (Friday, 4/6) approved emerita status for a longtime university administrator and several faculty promotions.
Carolyn Jones, who will retire at the end of August as associate executive vice president for academic affairs, was granted emerita status. Jones has held a variety of positions during 30 years of service to the university.
The board also awarded a posthumous degree of doctor of philosophy to Andres U. Vargus of Hubbard, Ore. He had substantially completed the requirements for a Ph.D. in multicultural special education at the time of his death last fall.
