PMO production team hails from across the country

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Artists from around the country are arriving here to form the production team that will help bring the Purdue Musical Organizations Christmas Show to life.

PMO director Brian Breed selected the team, which includes: choreographer Stevie River Rawlings of New York City; lighting designer Matthew Reinert of Minneapolis; sound designer Ed Crippen of Nashville, Tenn.; set designer Troy D. Longers of Lafayette, Ind.; and stage manager Jennifer Taylor of Hot Springs, Ark..

Rawlings toured Europe as a singer/dancer for the USO and was choreographer for six national tours of the Fred Waring Show. She also directed shows for the USO tours. As a writer and director, Rawlings has worked for Kings Productions (now Paramount Parks), Eastern Cruise Lines and Carnival Cruise Lines.

Crippen has been the sound designer for projects including a tour of "Carmen," Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman's recent tour and the 2000-2001 Women of Faith Conference.

Reinert is the resident lighting supervisor for the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. He has designed Guthrie productions that include "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Twelfth Night" and "Misalliance."

Longest is the scenic charge/prop master for Purdue Theatre. Before working for Purdue, Longest was the head painter for the Indiana Repertory Theatre. While working for IRT, he was in charge of scheduling and hiring a paint crew, show budgeting, buying supplies and maintaining the shop.

Taylor, a recent Purdue graduate, served as the production stage manager for Purdue University Theatre's 1999-2000 season. She most recently served as the production manager for the Tempus Fugit Productions of "Vladivostok Blues" at the Live Bait Theatre and the Strawdog Theatre in Chicago. Taylor also has served as stage management assistant for the Goodman Theatre's world premiere production of "Schoolgirl Figure" and was production assistant for last year's PMO Christmas Show.

The Christmas Show will take the stage six times over three days in Elliott Hall of Music:

• Friday, December 8, at 8 p.m.

• Saturday, December 9, at noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

• Sunday, December 10, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Tickets are $23 for adults and $16 for students, and can be purchased by phone or in person from the Purdue Box Office at (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-7469.

The American Bus Association named the Christmas Show one of the Top 100 events in North America for 1998. In addition to the regional audience of 36,000 people who see the show live on campus each December, millions of people see it on public television stations from coast to coast. More than 1 million people have seen the PMO Christmas Show in Elliott Hall since its debut in 1933. This will be Breed's 12th consecutive year as director.
