Krannert to raze building, clear ground for state-of-the-art Jerry S. Rawls Hall

Purdue University's Krannert School of Management will begin clearing ground for Jerry S. Rawls Hall at 5 p.m., Thursday (10/26) by razing the former Class Notes building on the corner of State and Pierce streets.

Rawls Hall, a technologically state-of-the-art $37 million building, is the centerpiece in the Krannert School's $55 million "Krannert at the Frontier" campaign.

Rawls, a 1968 master's degree graduate and president and CEO of Finisar Corp., a Silicon Valley optical networking company located in Mountain View, Calif., is scheduled to be on hand, as will other major donors and members of the Krannert School Dean's Advisory Council.

Rawls gave $10 million for the four-story, 128,000 square-foot facility, which will be located on Grant Street across from the Krannert Building.

Groundbreaking for Rawls Hall will take place in the spring, and the building will be ready for occupancy for the fall 2003 semester.
