September 8, 2000 Fans can pick up Purdue pride posters after gameWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Free Purdue University pride posters will be available to the public in Ross-Ade Stadium after Purdue's football game against Kent State Saturday afternoon and on campus next week. The 11-by-17-inch black-and-gold posters scream "Go Boilers!" with a locomotive logo on a football background. "The pride posters started with Boilermaker men's and women's basketball success and bowl appearances by head coach Joe Tiller's three Purdue football teams," says David Brannan, director of Purdue Office of Marketing Communications, which designed the posters. "With this newest poster, we're revving up the pride in this Drew Brees-led Boilermaker team. The poster serves a twofold purpose: giving fans a chance to show their colors and informing them of the Homecoming Pep Rally." The pep rally, Boiler Fan Fest, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Slayter Center of Performing Arts on campus. Boilermaker students, alumni, and fans from the community are invited to the pep rally, which will include celebrities, band music, give-aways and free food and beverages. Purdue will entertain Minnesota in the Sept. 23 Homecoming game, which will kick off at 11:10 a.m. Purdue Pete, Rowdy, cheerleaders, the Boilermaker Special and other celebrities will join the Purdue "All-American" Marching Band's pep band for the event. The give-aways will include 3,000 black-and-gold pom pons. The free food and refreshments will be provided by the Office of Housing and Food Service. Event sponsors include Purdue Student Government, Purdue Student Union Board, Purdue Foundation Student Board, the Reamers Club, the Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association. Limited quantities of the free posters will be available for pickup between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at these campus locations: The John Purdue Club office, Room 60, Mackey Arena; the Visitor Information Center, 504 Northwestern Avenue; Purdue Marketing Communications, South Campus Courts-D; and the Purdue Alumni Association office, Room 160, Purdue Memorial Union. The Visitor Information Center also is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays while Purdue is in session, except on days of home football games, when it closes an hour before kickoff time.
