February 11, 2000 Convos brings 'Sesame Street Live' back to PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue Convocations is bringing "Sesame Street Live" back to the university for three performances in April. Shows will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, and at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Elliott Hall of Music. "Sesame Street Live," celebrating its 20th anniversary with a 150-city tour, last visited Purdue in 1998. Each "Sesame Street Live" show is a multimillion dollar family entertainment attraction complete with singing, dancing and audience participation. The current production, "When I Grow Up," includes many popular "Sesame Street" characters such as Elmo, Cookie Monster, Rosita, Telly Monster, Big Bird, Zoe, Bert and Ernie, The Count, and Oscar the Grouch. The 90-minute musical performance reflects the same messages as the televised "Sesame Street" show, such as the fun of learning and reading, the importance of having friends, and cooperating with each other. Tickets for the 7 p.m. performances on April 11 and 12 are $15, $13 and $11, with $1.50 discount on the $13 and $11 tickets for children age 12 and younger. All tickets for the family matinee performance at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, are $10. All children age 1 or older are required to have a ticket. A $2 discount per ticket for groups of 15 or more is available for the 7 p.m. performances only. Tickets go on sale first to Friends of Convocations, the donor organization that supports Convocations' programming, on Monday, March 6, and Tuesday, March 7. Sales begin to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, at campus box offices and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Charge by phone at (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW. Friends of Convocations, who will receive a special advance ticket order form by mail, are urged to fax, hand deliver or e-mail their ticket orders for the quickest service, as phone lines will be congested with other business.
