Homecoming king, queen named at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Two Purdue University seniors have been named homecoming king and queen.

Kyle Hudson, Pendleton, Ind., is the king, and Meghan Kennedy, Janesville, Wis., is the queen. The winners were announced today (Saturday, 10/16) during halftime of the Purdue-Michigan State football game.

Hudson, a mechanical engineering major, is the son of Mary Lewis and a graduate of Pendleton Heights High School. He has served as rush chairman for Sigma Chi social fraternity and been director of leadership development for Purdue's Interfraternity Council. He is a co-founder and vice president of the Purdue Society of Business Engineers. He also has been involved in the Indiana Greek Leadership Conference, Gimlet leadership honor society and Skull and Crescent service honorary.

Kennedy, a business management major, is the daughter of Bill and Diane Kennedy and a graduate of Janesville's Craig High School. She has been president, education officer and activities chairwoman for Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority. She has been a vice president for Purdue's Panhellenic Association and worked on the Indiana Greek Leadership Conference. She has been involved in the Old Master program, Order of Omega and Skull and Crescent leadership honoraries and Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta academic honoraries.

The other homecoming king finalists were Judd Feldman, a senior from Carmel, Ind., majoring in history; Christopher McManama, a junior from Brentwood, Tenn., majoring in management; Anthony Simmons, a senior from Battle Creek, Mich., majoring in organizational leadership and supervision; and Thomas Wardrip, a sophomore from Palos Heights, Ill., majoring in restaurant, hotel, institutional and tourism management.

The other homecoming queen finalists were Kristy Engle, a senior from Greenville, Ind., majoring in management; Cari Mutz, a senior from Indianapolis, majoring in communications; Rebecca Small, a senior from Hammond, Ind., majoring in English; and Stephanie Strahl, a senior from Richland, Ind., majoring in management.

The finalists were selected through a campuswide vote. Finalists were interviewed by a panel of judges this week. Voting results and judges' evaluations determined the winner.

The homecoming king and queen contests are sponsored by the Purdue Student Union Board.
