Sycamore Review features contemporary art, writingWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Summer/Fall 1999 edition of Purdue University's award-winning national literary journal, Sycamore Review, features a selection of mixed media art in addition to cutting-edge poetry and fiction.An eight-page art section by collaborative artists Larry Enge and Carol Wilder was inspired by photographic images of European Gothic cathedral interiors, combined with figures of African descent. This issue also includes poetry by Billy Collins, Thomas Lux, David Young and Susan Atefat Peckham. Fiction contributions were written by William Orem, Kristine A. Somerville and Carolyn Johnson Lewis. Also in this issue are a creative nonfiction essay by Robert Vivian and an interview with Irish poet Eavan Boland. Sycamore Review is available for $7 and may be purchased on the Purdue campus in Room 442 of Heavilon Hall and at the Stewart Center service desk. It may also be purchased at Greater Lafayette bookstores including Von's and Little Professor Book Center and at the Lafayette Museum of Art. Subscriptions are $12 per year for two issues, $14 per year for foreign subscribers. Back issues may also be purchased. Sycamore Review provides a forum for established and emerging writers and artists from Indiana and across the United States. In 1997 the journal was given an honorable mention in the O'Henry Awards anthology, "Prize Stories." In 1995 Sycamore Review was ranked among the top 10 percent of United States literary magazines by the League of Canadian Poets. Sycamore Review was founded in 1988 and is maintained by the Ann Griffith Lindsey Memorial Fund with additional funding from the Indiana Arts Commission, the Purdue English department and School of Liberal Arts, and private donations.
