WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Three members of Voices of Native America, in town for a Purdue University Convocations performance on Sunday, April 11, will visit two Greater Lafayette shops a day earlier to meet the public and explain their show.

  • Douglas Spotted Eagle, founder and creator of Voices of Native America, will make a special appearance at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 2323 Sagamore Parkway S. in Lafayette, at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 10, to give a behind-the-scenes talk about the troupe. An acclaimed Native American and New Age flutist now recording on the Higher Octave label, Spotted Eagle also will sign compact discs, answer questions and show video clips of the performance.

Voices of Native America, a company of 35 singers, dancers, musicians and storytellers representing 15 different Native American nations, will perform at Elliott Hall of Music at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 11.

The combination of large screen video, pounding drums, pyrotechnics, jingling dancer's feet, awe-inspiring stories, and a presentation of ancient tradition make for an afternoon of educational entertainment for the whole family. Tickets are $16 for adults and $11 for Purdue students at campus box offices. Charge by phone (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW.
