Two authors to sign books at West Lafayette bookstoresWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Two renowned authors who will lecture at Purdue University in the coming weeks also will sign copies of their books at West Lafayette bookstores.Robert T. Bakker, known as "Dr. Bob, the Dinosaur Guy," will be available to sign his books at Von's Book Shop, 317 W. State St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24. Von's will have copies of his paleontology text "Dinosaur Heresies" and his novel "Raptor Red" available for purchase. Bakker will lecture in Elliott Hall of Music the previous evening, Tuesday, Feb. 23. He will begin with a presentation at 7 p.m. especially for children about the drawing of dinosaurs, followed by a lecture for all ages at 7:30 p.m. Bakker, adjunct dinosaur curator of the Tate Geological Museum at Casper College in Wyoming, is considered the scientist most responsible for acceptance of the theory that dinosaurs were warm blooded, rather than lethargic "lizards." He was a special consultant to the films "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World." Robert Fulghum, best-selling author of such inspirational books as "Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten," will be available to sign his books at the Little Professor Book Center, 500 Sagamore Parkway W., from 12:45 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 2. Fulghum will deliver the Mitchell Inspirational Lecture at 8 p.m. that evening in Elliott Hall. The bookstore will have copies of several of Fulghum's works available for purchase, and refreshments will be served. His other books include "Uh Oh," "Maybe (Maybe Not)," "It Was on Fire When I Lay Down on It" and "True Love." Both lectures are free and open to the public, as are the book signings.
