Purdue Christmas Show on the airWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The spirit, sights and songs of Purdue University Musical Organizations' acclaimed Christmas Show will be seen and heard on TV and radio stations across Indiana and the nation this holiday season.Public TV stations and other outlets are broadcasting a one-hour highlights program produced last year. Additionally, dozens of radio stations, mostly in Indiana, will broadcast a special one-hour production of this year's show. The new radio production will feature highlights recorded during the six live performances of the 65th annual Christmas Show, staged Dec. 11-13 in Elliott Hall of Music on Purdue's West Lafayette campus. Thousands of people from throughout the Midwest annually trek to campus to enjoy the show, which plays to sellout audiences in the 6,027-seat hall. A December tradition since the 1930s, the Christmas Show features a spectrum of holiday songs and scenery that celebrates both the popular and religious aspects of the Christmas season. Featured are the student members of the five PMO ensembles: the Varsity Glee Club, Purduettes, University Choir, PMO Express and Purdue Bell Choir. Among radio outlets broadcasting the new 1998 highlights show are Purdue's WBAA radio stations, AM 920 and 101.3 FM. It will air on WBAA-FM at 5:07 p.m. Dec. 22 and 4 p.m. Dec. 25.
