Tori Amos to play at Purdue on Oct. 31WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Singer/songwriter/pianist Tori Amos will be in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in the Elliott Hall of Music at Purdue University. The concert is presented by the Purdue Student Concert Committee in cooperation with JAM Productions of Chicago.Tickets are $26, and Purdue students, faculty and staff will have the first opportunity to purchase through the university's computerized SSINFO "concertificates" system. Students sign up for a time to purchase tickets by logging onto campus computers between 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6. Faculty and staff may sign up for a purchase time at tables in the Elliott Hall of Music lobby. The computer system then randomizes the entries and assigns times to each entry. The schedule of times will be posted on SSINFO and various locations on campus. Concertificate sales will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Elliott Box Office. A maximum of six tickets may be purchased, and no credit cards will be accepted with these sales. First public access to tickets will come through TicketMaster at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. After all students, faculty and staff have been served through the concertificate system, any remaining tickets will be available to the public at campus box offices. Patrons may call (765) 494-3933 or 1-800-914-SHOW. Amos' latest recording is "From the choirgirl hotel," which includes her current hit "Spark." Her other releases include "Under the Pink," "Little Earthquake," and "Boys for Pele" all of which went platinum. Her song "Siren" was included in the soundtrack for the film "Great Expectations." A recent Rolling Stone magazine cover story describes the pianist this way: " despite having been assured that your girl-and-her-piano shtick will never, ever play, you've become, as one observer put it, a 'moon child for lost souls and misfits' with a million devoted followers worldwide."
