Corea worked as keyboardist for performers Billy May, Blue Mitchell, Herbie Mann, Stan Getz, Sarah Vaughan and Miles Davis in the 1960s before establishing his own musical career. Known for his diverse musical interests as a performer and composer, Corea has stated, "Whether it's classical, free music, bebop, electronic, orchestral or whatever, I just don't feel the need to be confined."
Burton, a native of Anderson, Ind., who is renowned for his four-mallet technique on the vibraphone, is one of the world's foremost jazz musicians and music educators. He is executive vice president of Berklee College of Music in Boston, the largest music college in the world.
Corea and Burton first recorded together in 1973, producing the album "Crystal Silence." The duo went on to record four albums in the next decade, including "Duet" and "Concert in Zurich," both of which won Grammys. Their albums defined the piano/vibe genre in jazz music.
