Award-winning cellist to perform Nov. 2 at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Cellist Mark Kosower will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, in Purdue University's Loeb Playhouse. The concert is part of the Discovery Concert series featuring young performers presented by Purdue Convocations with support from Friends of Convocations.

Kosower began studying the cello at age 1 1/2 and began performing with the Dolce Trio at the age of 4. Now 20, Kosower has performed hundreds of concerts with symphonies and chamber groups throughout the country and is the winner of the Irving Klein International String and WAMSO Young Artist Competitions. Yo Yo Ma called Kosower a "remarkable young cellist."

Kosower's program at Purdue will include pieces by Chopin, Locatelli, Kodaly, Martinu and Stravinsky. He will be accompanied by pianist Hie-Yon Choi.
