Alan Jackson returns to Purdue Oct. 12

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- After three years, country music star Alan Jackson returns to Purdue University for one show only at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, in Elliott Hall of Music. The show, presented by Purdue Convocations in cooperation with Frank Productions, will be opened by Deana Carter.

Jackson is one of country music's biggest names, releasing 20 No. 1 hits over the past six years. Jackson has received numerous awards including the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year in 1995. Jackson is also a favorite performer of Purdue audiences, selling out his two previous shows at Elliott Hall.

Carter, a comparative newcomer, received five nominations for this year's Country Music Association awards. She is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for "Did I Shave My Legs for This?" Single of the Year and Video of the Year for "Strawberry Wine," and the Horizon Award.
