** Monday, April 28. Violet Haas Awards Reception. 3:30-5 p.m. Room 116, Agriculture and Research Building. The Council on the Status of Women is presenting the awards to Purdue's Health Promotion Programs; Patricia A. Carlisle, director of student support services at Purdue North Central; and Joan L. Marshall, associate dean of the School of Liberal Arts, for promoting women's issues and programs. The reception is free and open to the public.
** Saturday, May 17. Spring commencement ceremonies. 9:30 a.m. for Schools of Engineering; 2:30 p.m. for Schools of Management; Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Sciences; and Science. Elliott Hall of Music. Tickets are required for admission to the hall. Participants are issued tickets for family and friends.
** Sunday, May 18. Spring commencement ceremonies. 9:30 a.m. for Schools of Consumer and Family Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Veterinary Medicine; 2:30 p.m. for Schools of Agriculture, Education, and Technology. ** Saturday, May 17. Purdue Varsity Glee Club End-of-Season Concert. 8 p.m. Loeb Playhouse. Tickets: $8, available at Loeb box office.
** Thursday, April 24. Future Trends in Telecommunications. 4:30 p.m. Room 112, Physics Building. Dennis M. Conti, Hughes Network Systems. Conti will describe trends in both the "wired" and "wireless" worlds of telecommunications relative to technology, deregulation and human factors.
** Friday, May 16. Implementing Mathematics, Science and Technology Standards Into K-12 Classrooms. 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Stewart Center. Conference features a keynote address from Jerry Miller, curriculum designer with Keynote Publishing. Sponsored by the Purdue's School Mathematics and Science Center and the Indiana Department of Education Center for School Improvement and Performance. Cost is $25, and advance registration is encouraged.
