March 11-13: church accessibility workshops

Purdue's Breaking New Ground Outreach Program will hold a series of church accessibility workshops around Indiana. The workshops are designed to help congregations make their places of worship more accessible to members with disabilities. Fee is $15, which includes lunch. march 25: Indiana forage-livestock seminar

The seminar, sponsored by the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service and the Indiana Forage Council, will have sessions on management intensive grazing, grazing lands conservation, forage livestock management practices and more. There also will be a trade show. The seminar will be from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Jasper VFW in Jasper. Fee is $10. APRIL 5: Indiana State Beekeepers Association meeting

The Indiana State Beekeepers Association and Purdue University will co-sponsor this meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 214, Stewart Center. Fee is $5 at the door. The meeting will include sessions on pollination and controlling mites. Speakers include Keith Delaplane, entomologist from the University of Georgia; Medhat Nasr from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs; Kathleen Prough, Indiana state apiary inspector; and Purdue honey bee specialist Greg Hunt. Jim Mast, a northeastern Indiana beekeeper, will conduct a workshop for people who want to get started keeping bees. April 11-13 Hoosier horse fair

This three-day fair at the state fairgrounds in Indianapolis is expected to draw more than 55,000 spectators. Fifteen 4-H events, which will involve about 750 participants, include shows, clinics, public speaking contests, demonstration contests, grooming contests and a horse bowl. Fee for each 4-H event is $5, due by March 15. Some contests will accept late entries with a late fee. Entry forms are available at each county Cooperative Extension Service office. April 17: Ibep bull sale and video auction

The Indiana Beef Evaluation Program sale will consist of 125 bulls, all in the top 67 percent of their breed and all of which have passed structural and breeding exams. Breeds in the sale are: Angus, Charolais, Chiangus, Gelbvieh, Hereford, Limousin, Salers, Simmental and White Park. The sale will begin at 6 p.m. at the Springville Feeder Auction 10 miles northwest of Bedford. Video sites around the state will be Southeast-Purdue Ag Center in Butlerville, Tippecanoe County Extension Office in Lafayette, Parke County Extension Office in Rockville, Washington County Extension Office in Salem and the Justice Building in Warsaw. April 18-20 bug bowl

Bug Bowl features roach races, an insect petting zoo, insect crafts, honey tasting, butterfly exhibits and more. The event also features a cooking-with-insects contest, a cake-decorating contest, and a contest where folks decorate a Volkswagen beetle as an insect. Registration is required for the cooking and the cake-decorating contests. Bug Bowl is held in and around the Entomology Building on the Purdue campus, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. April 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 19, and noon to 4 p.m. April 20. April 19: project future

The program offers college-bound students in grades 9-12 the chance to be a Purdue student for a day. Students participate in hands-on activities in college classrooms with Purdue professors. Registration is required, and enrollment forms are available from principals, guidance counselors, teachers or county Extension offices. April: 19-20 Purdue Horticulture Show

The event, held at the Horticulture Building on the Purdue campus, runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The show's theme is "Hands-on Horticulture." It features children's activities, short seminars, specially designed gardens and a plant sale. The free event is part of the annual Ag Open House. APRIL: 19-20 animal science open house
