The original production of this '50s rock-n-roll musical opened in 1972 , ran for eight years and was nominated for seven Tony Awards. The current Tommy Tune revival of Grease is now playing on Broadway and making the national tour. The story, written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, is one of high school hi-jinks and star-crossed lovers. Popular songs from the show include "Greased Lightnin'," "Summer Nights," "Born to Hand Jive," and "We Go Together."
Television personality Dick Clark says Grease is, "a delightful potpourri of memorabilia, funky '50's sounds, exaggerated movement, and 'cool and tough' dialogue ... a fascinating romp." Newsweek describes the show as "a real comedy of manners, capturing the tics and twitches of an uncertain, friendly generation, and it is hugely entertaining."
Tickets, at $26, $21 and $16 for the public; $16, $11 and $10 for Purdue students; and $7 and $5 for Family Circle seating in the second balcony, are available at campus box offices. Charge by telephone at (317) 494-3933 or (800) 914- SHOW.
