Purdue TV magazine launches new season

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- "Purdue: A Closer Look," the weekly television magazine about people, programs, research and services at the university, begins its eighth season on Monday (9/30).

Each half-hour program includes a campus news update, feature segments and a studio interview.

The program is seen weekdays in Greater Lafayette and on the West Lafayette campus on The Purdue Channel (Cox Communications Channel 5; University Residences Television Antenna System Channel 15; and Purdue Cable Network Channel 4). Local telecast times are noon Monday and Friday and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

"Purdue: A Closer Look" also is seen on the following cable outlets around the state:

Indianapolis, Educational Television Co-op Channels 20 and 39 (Comcast) and Channel 19 (American Cable); 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. Thursday and 3:30 p.m. Friday, beginning Oct. 8.
Fort Wayne, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne's College Cable Access Channel 6; 3 p.m. Wednesday, beginning Oct. 9.
Muncie, Ball State Cable Service WBSU Channel 5; 9 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday, beginning Oct. 10.
South Bend/Mishawaka, TCI of Michiana Cable Channel 3; 6 p.m. Tuesday, beginning Oct. 8.
The first month's program highlights (Greater Lafayette schedule):
Sept. 30-Oct. 4 -- Two student pilots win the prestigious Air Race Classic for women; an update on the Purdue-based Indiana Reading Recovery Program; fall broadleaf control.
Oct. 7-11 -- The Learning Center in the School of Liberal Arts; meteorite research; the Safri Duo's percussive talents.
Oct. 14-18 -- Purdue Statewide Technology; Krannert Executive Education Programs; the Athletic Hall of Fame.
Oct. 21-25 -- International Management Program; studio guest to be announced; 50th anniversary of the Department of Child Development and Family Studies.
Oct. 28-Nov. 1 -- Department of Restaurant, Hotel, Institutional and Tourism Management student internships; legislators and the Office of State Relations; a profile of pianist Stephen Prutsman.
"Purdue: A Closer Look" is jointly produced by the Center for Instructional Services and the Office of University Relations. Program hosts are Beth Forbes, news coordinator at Purdue News Service, and Greg Zawisza, director of special projects at University Relations.
