Joseph Fletcher, a research engineer in Purdue University's School of Civil Engineering, will present Work Zone Traffic Control for Utilities and Contractors on July 16 in Jasper; July 17 in Scottsburg; July 18 in Richmond; July 23 in Terre Haute; July 24 in Indianapolis; and July 25 in Marion. All courses are from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The training course is intended for municipal public works employees; employees of private utility companies, such as water, electric, telephone and cable; and private contractors who work on and adjacent to public streets and highways.
Fletcher will present information from the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, including examples of signs and equipment to be used in different types of work zones. He also will discuss the liability of the agencies involved in traffic control.
The courses are presented by the Highway Extension and Research Project of Indiana Cities and Counties. They are sponsored by the Indiana Office of Traffic Safety using funds from the Governor's Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving.
