Krannert School invites public to business speakers series

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A baker's dozen of corporate and media leaders will present their ideas to Purdue's Krannert School of Management students during spring semester. Among the speakers are Purdue alumni from Business Week, Deere and Co. and Anthem Inc.

Business leaders have been coming to campus since 1973 as part of Krannert's Executive Forum. The series is presented in conjunction with a class coordinated by Richard A. Cosier, Krannert School dean and Leeds Professor of Management.

"We bring a range of business leaders in to talk to our students," Cosier said. "They also meet with small groups of both graduate and undergraduate students, as well as faculty members. The Krannert Executive Forum provides an excellent meeting ground for academe and business."

The forum meets from 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. each Friday in Jerry S. Rawls Hall, Room 1086, and is free and open to the public as seating permits.

Jan. 23 – Wendy Dant Chesser, Indiana Department of Commerce regional manager, "Civic Entrepreneurship: Maximizing Public and Private Investment."

Jan. 30 – Samuel Allen, Deere and Co. president of global financial services and Purdue alumnus, "From Boilermaker to Metalbender: Lessons Learned About Succeeding and Leading in Today's Global Business Environment."

Feb. 6 – Brooke Anderson, Lutron Electronics Co. Inc. marketing representative and Purdue alumna, "Beyond Purdue."

Feb. 13 – LeRoy Robbins, TruStar Solutions CEO, "Online Recruiting and Its Effects on You."

Feb. 20 – Henry Suerth, Starbucks Coffee Co. senior vice president for business alliances, "Common Threads in Successful Business Initiatives and Lessons Learned Throughout the Years."

Feb 27 – Randy Goss, Equipment Support Services Inc. president and CEO, "The Successful Rollup: How Consolidations Fail."

March 5 – Ann Murtlow, Indianapolis Power & Light Co. president and CEO, "Take a Chance … Risk/Reward as it Pertains to Personal Development."

March 12 — Randall Lewis, Anthem Inc. senior vice president of internal audit, process involvement and chief compliance officer and Purdue alumnus, "Corporate Ethics."

March 26 – Thomas Murphy, ESPN International Inc. vice president of international finance and planning, "Spanning the Globe: Growing ESPN's Business Outside of the U.S."

April 2 – Paula Dwyer, Business Week deputy bureau chief and senior writer and Purdue alumna, "What I leaned in 25 years of Reporting on Washington, Wall Street and Corporate America."

April 9 – Mark Bleyer, Cook Biotech CEO, "The Promises and Pitfalls of Biotech."

April 16 –Paul Fregia, Grandma Maud's Inc. founder and president, "When a Good Product Does Bad and a Bad Product Does Good."

April 23 — Chip Perfect, Perfect North Slopes vice president, "Navigating the Slippery Slope of an Entrepreneur."
