November 26, 2003 Purdue musicians to perform chamber musicWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdues top classical musicians will offer an evening of chamber music Thursday, Dec. 4 in Fowler Hall of the Purdue Stewart Center. The recital, sponsored by Purdue University Bands, begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free. The Fiori String Quartet will open the evening with Mendelssohns "String Quartet No. 2 in A Major." Works by Haydn, Brahms and Khachaturian also are on the program. Internationally-known flutist Pamina Blum, who coaches the Purdue students, will perform with cellist Ben Niehoff, a senior in electrical and computer engineering from Indianapolis, and pianist John Fisher, a graduate student in agriculture from Lafayette, Ind., in Leclairs "Triosonata No. 8 in F Major." Several works feature violin-piano duos include Franks "Violin Sonata in A Major" and Brahms "Violin Sonata in G Major."
