October 2, 2003 Free health fair open to public at Black Cultural CenterWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings are just a few of the free tests to be offered Tuesday (10/7) during a health fair at Purdue University. The fair, which is open to the public, will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the Black Cultural Center, 1100 Third St. In addition to the screenings, information will be available on the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Planned Parenthood staff will sponsor a question-and-answer session, and health professionals also will be present to discuss individual health concerns. Craig Wesley, fair chairperson, says he hopes people of all ages take advantage of the opportunity to become more informed about their health. "It is an event where people can stay current with various health topics while learning valuable and accurate information from professional health specialists," Wesley says. The fair, which is open annually to the public at no cost, is sponsored by the Black Cultural Center, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Women of Vision and the Minority Health Coalition of Tippecanoe County.
