Police arrest, eject spectators from Notre Dame game

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Police at Saturday's (9/27) Purdue football game against Notre Dame arrested five people and ejected 20 others from Ross-Ade Stadium.

Those arrested, along with the preliminary charges, include: Keith D. Adair, 26, Fort Wayne, Ind., public intoxication; Carlos E. Farmer, 26, Cleveland, trespassing; Russell F. Logsdon, 46, Fowler, Ind., public intoxication; Christopher J. Okos, 21, a Purdue senior in mechanical engineering technology from Battle Ground, Ind., public intoxication; and Kevin W. Storm II, 19, a Purdue sophomore in the School of Health Sciences from Franklin, Ind., public intoxication.

The 20 additional people police removed from the stadium were ejected for disruptive behavior or violating stadium regulations, such as not having tickets, smoking in stadium seats or bringing alcohol into the facility, said Steven R. Dietrich, interim chief of the Purdue Police Department. Six of those removed were Purdue students.

"These kinds of behaviors detract from the ability of others to support our student-athletes and provide a welcoming environment for everyone, including visiting teams and their fans," Dietrich said. "We think it's important to let the community know that the players aren't the only ones suited up for game day – police officers also have a key role. In addition to patrolling the stadium, officers are stationed in the pavilion where they can observe problems and monitor fan behavior."

Dietrich said the number of arrests made was typical and that police plan to continue issuing arrest reports after each home game to increase public awareness of police activity at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Law enforcement agencies involved in providing game-day security include the Purdue University Police Department, Lafayette and West Lafayette police departments, Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police.
