Open Dining Card offered by Purdue University Residences

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A dining plan is available for Purdue faculty, staff, students and visitors who wish to occasionally eat at Purdue University Residences' dining facilities.

The University Residences Open Dining Card, valid at any University Residences dining location, provides 25 meal swipes for $165, plus tax for non-Purdue students. The card can be purchased for individuals or groups, and more than one meal swipe can be used at a time.

John Sautter, vice president for Housing and Food Services, says the card has attracted interest from staff who like a variety of dining options, students who live off-campus, students who have frequent weekend visitors, and from fraternities and sororities who can eliminate the need for weekend meal service.

"We have discovered that as we offer students an increasingly wider variety of high-quality, restaurant-style foods, we are attracting faculty, staff and students who live off-campus," Sautter said. "The decision to offer a meal card to non-students is our way of meeting demand and also increasing business for our self-supporting dining services."

Kenneth Burns, Purdue executive vice president and treasurer, was the first person to purchase the new meal card.

"When I heard about the Open Dining Card, I jumped at the chance to purchase one," Burns said. "I enjoy the flexibility the card offers. Plus, if a guest wants to join me for lunch, I can simply swipe an extra meal."

Cards are valid through Aug. 8, 2004, and can be purchased at Cary Quadrangle, Earhart Hall, Hillenbrand Hall, Meredith Hall, Owen Hall, Tarkington Hall, Windsor Hall and Smalley Center. For additional information and menus, visit the University Residences' Web site.
