Parking services office adds extra hours for school start

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University's Parking Facilities Office will be open Saturday, Aug. 23, to better serve students returning to campus for the start of classes.

The office, located in the Northwestern Parking Garage complex, will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 23 for students, faculty and staff to purchase parking permits. The office also will be open for normal operation hours, which are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

"We want to provide convenience for the students who will not be moving to West Lafayette until the weekend before classes," said parking facilities manager Donna Kemper. "The extra hours will allow those people to purchase permits before they need to use them on the first day of classes."

Purdue's fall semester begins Aug. 25. Kemper said new and returning students should be aware of signs on streets and in parking lots that describe which type of permit is needed. Many students receive parking tickets because they do not notice restrictions on spaces in which they park, she said.
