Purdue School of Science awards scholarships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue University School of Science recently presented scholarships to six incoming freshmen.

Incoming freshmen students Spencer Johnny Hahn, Trent Donald Wesley Blettner, Brandon G. Storey and Kyle W. Riggs all received the School of Science Distinguished Scholar award worth $12,500. It is awarded to high school graduates who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and are interested in a science-related career.

Hahn graduated from Carmel High School in Carmel, Ind., and plans to major in chemistry and chemical engineering. Blettner graduated from Triton Central High School in Fairland, Ind., and he also plans to major in chemistry and chemical engineering.

Storey graduated from South Newton High School in Kentland, Ind., and plans to major in computer science. Riggs graduated from Evansville Harrison High School in Evansville, Ind., and plans to major in mathematics.

Brett Andrew Larsson, an incoming freshman from Kentwood, Mich., received the Edmond R. and Mary L Henelt Scholarship worth $20,000. Larsson graduated from East Kentwood High School. He plans to major in actuarial science and statistics.

Jennifer M. Cunningham, an incoming freshman from Lafayette, Ind., received the Carlton and Elizabeth Martin Scholarship worth $1,000. Cunningham graduated from Jefferson High School, and she plans to major in mathematics.
