Purdue veterinary students honored for academic achievements

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Four Purdue University students in the School of Veterinary Medicine recently received academic awards.

Aaron E. Johnson, a sophomore from Preston, Conn., received the Excellence in Comparative Oncology Award worth $250. He was recognized for his research with human transitional cell carcinoma, a malignant cancer of the bladder.

Jennifer Pine, a sophomore from Greencastle, Pa., received the Sophomore Scholarship Award of Merit. She was honored for academic superiority in the second year of the professional curriculum. The award is sponsored by the Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society.

Sarah Kanagy, a sophomore from Goshen, Ind., received the Gerald P. Murphy Prize. She was honored for outstanding interest and dedication to the comparative aspects of veterinary oncology.

Erin M. Snarski, a senior from East Dummerston, Vt., received the Pharmacia Animal Health Award, the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association Award and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Award. She was honored for her achievements in the field of food animal medicine, her clinical proficiency in all species and her achievements in large animal surgery.
