Jahari Dance Troupe to perform in spring revue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Jahari Dance Troupe, sponsored by the Black Cultural Center at Purdue University, will perform its spring revue at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center.

The performance, entitled "Dance Me," will feature several different styles of dance, including hip-hop, reggae and African. Tickets, which are $5 for students and $7 for the public, can be purchased through the Stewart Center box office at (765) 494-3933.

"The spring revue provides the community an opportunity to see the wide range of dancing styles in which the Jahari is trained," says performance coordinator Lauren Jones. "Jahari has never failed to provide the audience an evening full of excitement, talent and entertainment for all ages."

The choreography featured in "Dance Me" has been arranged by BCC artist-in-residence Mark Vaughn of Chicago. Guest artist Elain McLaurin of Chicago also provided choreography for a hip-hop piece.
