March 14, 2003 Student arrested in residence hall theftsWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University police today (Friday, 3/14) arrested an 18-year-old student in connection with several thefts from rooms in Harrison Hall. Adam C. Castor, a freshman computer technology student from Munster, Ind., was arrested at approximately 11 a.m. on charges of burglary and theft. He was taken to Tippecanoe County Jail, where he was being held on $25,000 bond. Ron Fosnaugh, Purdue captain of special services, said police received complaints of several items, including cash and a laptop computer, being stolen from Harrison Hall rooms. Police questioned Castor and received his permission to search his room, which also was in Harrison Hall. During the search, police recovered some of the items allegedly stolen, Fosnaugh said. In addition to the burglaries, police also received reports of several vehicles being vandalized in the Fowler parking lot, located near Harrison Hall. Fosnaugh said police were investigating to determine if the incidents are related. Burglary is a Class B felony, punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, and theft is a Class D felony, punishable by up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
