Girl Scouts to gain lab experience at Purdue University

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –Girl Scouts from throughout Indiana will gather at Purdue University on Saturday, March 29, to gain laboratory experience and earn a Ms. Fix-It Badge.

Girl Scouts Day, sponsored by Women in Construction Management, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Knoy Hall of Technology. The girls will gain experience in surveying, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, soils, crane operating, wall plastering and CD case manufacturing. Women in the construction engineering program and the building construction management program will assist scouts in the labs.

Emily Pendleton, Women in Construction Management vice president, says the scouts will gain a new perspective on potential careers.

"This is a very important day for these young girls, since they learn that there are several challenging majors from which to choose," Pendleton says. "Every year the girls are excited to participate in this event. It is a jam-packed day with fun-filled activities."
