Student arrested on drug, alcohol related charges

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University police today (Thursday, 3/13) arrested a 19-year-old student on three drug and alcohol related charges.

Michael Joseph Rademacher, 19, a sophomore in the School of Science from Bloomington, Ill., was arrested on charges of possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication, according to police. Ron Fosnaugh, captain of special services, said police arrested Rademacher shortly after 8 a.m. today at the State Street Office Facility, located on State Road 26 west of Airport Road.

Rademacher was taken to Tippecanoe County Jail, where he was being held on a $5,000 surety bond.

Possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia are both Class D felonies, punishable by up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Public intoxication is a Class B misdemeanor, punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.
