March 12, 2003 Purdue names outstanding industrial engineersWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Three Purdue University engineering alumni have been honored with 2003 Outstanding Industrial Engineering Awards. The awards were issued during a Feb. 21 ceremony "to recognize those alumni who have distinguished themselves through exemplary technical and leadership accomplishments in the fields of industrial engineering and related areas." Alumni honored include: Grace Y. Lin, a senior manager at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. She received a master's degree in applied mathematics from Purdue in 1985 and a doctoral degree in 1993. Kevin R. Scott, senior vice president for strategy at Kraft Foods North America in Madison, Wis. He received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Purdue in 1982. Robert E. Swinehart, president and COO of Emerson Power Transmission Corp. in Valparaiso, Ind. He received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Purdue in 1965.
