Purdue civil engineering alumni honored

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Seven Purdue University civil engineering alumni were honored with 2002 Civil Engineering Alumni Achievement Awards during a Feb. 20 ceremony.

Alumni receiving awards were:

• R. Vernon Casteel, president of Casteel Construction Corp. of South Bend, Ind. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Purdue in 1957.

• Michael D. Kerr, president and chief operating officer of Hunt Construction Group's Eastern Division, which has offices in Indianapolis, where he is based. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Purdue in 1960.

• Dan C. Keys, president of Berns Construction Co. of Indianapolis. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Purdue in 1962.

• Stanley L. Kirtley, vice president of marketing for ReSourcing Services Co. of Chicago. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Purdue in 1975.

• Ronald Klemencic, president of Magnusson Klemencic Associates of Seattle. He received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Purdue in 1985.

• Martha L. Rees, associate general counsel for E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. of Wilmington, Del. She received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Purdue in 1973.

• Stephen P. Wanders, a vice president of CH2M Hill Inc., with offices in Dayton, Ohio, where he is based. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Purdue in 1978 and 1979, respectively.
