February 25, 2003 Black Cultural Center sponsors workshop for job hunters WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Business attire, resumes and cover letter writing are a few of the topics to be discussed on March 13 at the Professionalism Workshop, sponsored by Purdue University's Black Cultural Center. The workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Multipurpose Room II of the BCC. Other topics on the agenda include networking, making the transition from college to the work force, finance management and separating oneself from other candidates. The workshop is free and open to the public. Guest speakers include Carol L. Barrett, executive associate director of the Center for Career Opportunities at Purdue; Kenny McCleary, manager of site services of Eli Lilly & Company; Tony Ross, branch manager at Wells Fargo Financial; and Charles Scott, area manager of Verizon. Stacia Murphy, workshop chairperson, says she hopes many Purdue students and Greater Lafayette residents take advantage of the opportunity to bolster their job search skills. "The Professionalism Workshop provides valuable insight into the proper procedures of marketing yourself for that important interview or position," Murphy says. "This workshop also gives those attending an opportunity to support a program put together and facilitated by students."
