Photo, video opportunities available Saturday during Science Olympiad at Purdue

More than 250 middle and high school students will compete in a regional Science Olympiad at Purdue University from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (2/15).

Student teams from 17 schools will compete in mind-challenging events ranging from a "disease detective" contest to a bottle rocket session. The events will provide photo and video opportunities, particularly during the bottle rocket competition, which begins 9:45 a.m. in a field adjacent to the Recreational Sports Center, at Third Street and Intramural Drive. The best time to shoot photos and video of bottle rockets being launched will likely be between noon and 1:15 p.m.

Olympiad events will be in various labs and classrooms around campus, and the program will be headquartered in Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry, Room 200. The Olympiad is sponsored by the Purdue School of Science Outreach Program and is operated by the Purdue Student Science Olympiad Club. Students will vie for a chance to compete in a statewide Science Olympiad in March, and winning teams in that competition will move on to the national Science Olympiad.
