Peace, justice video series scheduled for second semester

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Committee on Peace Studies at Purdue University is sponsoring a series entitled Peace and Justice Videos every Monday at 7 p.m. in Beering Hall of Liberal Arts and Education, Room 2290.

The weekly program includes videos of speeches by well known commentators, such as Noam Chomsky, Helen Caldicott, Media Benjamin, Ralph Nader and Michael Moore, on contemporary foreign policy and domestic issues. Some videos of significant speeches will be supplemented with documentaries of current interest. All showings will be followed by brief discussion.

On Monday (2/3) the video to be presented is the second part of a "Frontline" documentary on the Gulf War.

"This video shows dramatic footage of the air and ground war in 1991, the devastation of the war and the impacts of it on postwar Iraq and United States foreign policy," said Harry Targ, political science professor and director of the peace studies minor.

Peace and Justice Videos is co-sponsored by the Lafayette Area Peace Coalition, Friends of Palestine, and other academic, student and local organizations.

The video series is free and open to the public.
