Purdue police seek two men for robbery

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University police are investigating an alleged robbery that occurred at about 1 a.m. today (Wednesday, 1/29) outside Hilltop Apartments on Ross-Ade Drive.

Ron Fosnaugh, Purdue police captain of special services, said a 19-year-old student was returning to his apartment after visiting friends in Cary Quadrangle when he was attacked by two white college-aged men near Hilltop Apartment Building 5. The men, described as about 5 feet, 11 inches tall, were dressed in black clothing and wearing ski masks.

The victim told police the attackers hit him in the face and back with a metal, black-handled club and then took his coat. An undisclosed amount of money was stolen from the coat, Fosnaugh said.

Police later found the emptied coat at the northeast corner of Hilltop Apartments Building 11. Investigators followed tracks in the snow that appeared to go east on Tower Drive and back toward Cary Quadrangle.

The victim was treated and released at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Robbery is a Class B felony, punishable by six to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, if it is committed with a deadly weapon or results in injury.

Anyone with information should call the Purdue Police Department at (765) 494-8221.
