Dave Matthews returns to Purdue for acoustic concert

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds are making a return visit to Purdue University this year.

This year's show is billed as "An Acoustic Evening with Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds." The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. April 3 in Elliott Hall of Music. Tickets are $49.50. The concert is being presented by the Purdue Student Concert Committee in association with JAM Productions.

Public sales at the Elliott Hall of Music box office will begin at 10 a.m. Feb. 8. There will be no telephone sales for this concert.

Purdue students may sign up for early purchase times through SSINFO. After logging on to SSINFO, students should click on "Student Life," and then click on "How SCCCTT Works." Students will then see full instructions on how to proceed.

The sign-up period will be 8 a.m. Feb. 1 through noon Feb. 4. At the end of the sign-up period, students will be randomly assigned a time to purchase tickets. These times will be posted on SSINFO by 10 a.m. Feb. 5.

Early campus sales will begin at 9 a.m. Feb. 7. Students, faculty and staff must bring their ID to buy tickets, and students may not bring someone else's ID to purchase for them. There will be no exceptions.

Faculty and staff must sign up for early purchase times at https://www.convocations.org to buy a ticket on Feb. 7. Times will be posted on this Web site at the same time they are posted on SSINFO. Assigned early purchase times will not be sent out via e-mail.

Due to contract stipulations, only half of the seats at Elliott Hall of Music are allotted for local sale. For additional opportunities to purchase tickets, fans can join the Dave Matthews fan club and sign up for the lottery at https://www.dmband.com. Tickets will be available on the site for fan club members through Monday (1/27).

Matthews and Reynolds will begin their tour on March 19 in Connecticut and continue performing mostly at university theaters. The two musical collaborators and longtime friends have 13 dates set for this acoustic concert tour.

Matthews is widely known as lead singer/guitarist for Dave Matthews Band, which formed in 1991. The band's first album, "Remember Two Things," was released in 1993.

Reynolds has released several of his own albums, playing each instrument on all of the tracks. His releases include "See Into Your Soul," which combines his acoustic style with new experimental sounds, and "Nomadic Wave," which has sounds of finger picking folk and borderline electronica. Reynolds has been noted by critics and musicians alike as one of the most talented guitarist to emerge in the last decade.
