Purdue Sun Bowl spirit posters now available on campus

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A free poster to mark the Purdue Boilermakers' second consecutive trip to the Sun Bowl is available at several campus locations.

A limited number of the free posters will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at these campus locations: the Visitor and Information Center, 504 Northwestern Ave.; the Purdue Marketing Communications office, South Campus Courts-D; the Purdue Alumni Association office in the Purdue Memorial Union, Room 160; and Mackey Arena, Room 15.

The 11-by-17-inch, black-and-gold poster, with the slogan "Stampede! The Purdue Posse Rides Again ... Sun Bowl 2002," features rolling dust clouds and the Purdue train. The poster was designed by the Purdue Marketing Communications office.

The 69th annual Sun Bowl game will be played at 2 p.m.(EST) Tuesday, Dec. 31, in El Paso, Texas. The game, which will be televised on CBS, is a rematch between the Boilermakers' and their 2001 Rose Bowl rivals, the University of Washington Huskies. Washington won that game 34-24.

The Boilermakers finished the regular season 6-6, 4-4 in the Big Ten Conference. Washington went 7-5, 4-4 in the Pac-10 Conference.

The Boilermakers played 13th-ranked Washington State in last year's Sun Bowl, losing 33-27 to the Cougars in the 2001 New Year's Eve matchup. This year's Sun Bowl game marks the Boilermakers' sixth straight bowl appearance under six-year head coach Joe Tiller.
